Qualifying for CLUE
PreK 4 CLUE Program: This program is located at Chimney Rock, Downtown, and Belle Forest Elementary.
K-2: In order to qualify for our local primary program, students must be able to read and comprehend two grades levels above their current grade. They will be given an informal reading inventory to determine eligibility for the program. When the student enters the 3rd grade, he/she will go through the state screening process for gifted and will be given an IQ test to determine further eligibility in the program.
3-5: Students go through the state screening process which includes academics (standardized test), teacher and parent observations, and cognition (IQ test).
*Referrals can be made by teachers or parents.
CLUE classes are held two times a week (one morning and one afternoon) for a total of 5 hours.
Students are pulled from their general ed classroom 2 1/2 hours one morning and 2 1/2 hours one afternoon. They will be allowed to make up any missed assignments or assessments. Grades are not given in CLUE, but you will receive a progress report that will inform you about your child's progress in the class.
